The BMW What?
There’s no denying that BMW has had some unique styling queues in the past number of years. The 2023/2024 BMW XM may just be the pinnacle of BMW design gone crazy. Introduced in 2021 and available for purchase in January of 2023, the XM is going on its second year of production. However, spotting one out on the road is far from common. According to CarScoops, BMW has sold just over 2,000 XMs worldwide. For the U.S. Market, BMW averaged about 250 cars a quarter in 2022, with one quarter reporting stronger sales numbers closer to 800 cars.
At A Glance:
Well, there’s certainly nothing else out there that looks like the XM. Ones eyes are drawn into the massive kidney shaped grills. The kidney shaped grill, a longtime famous BMW queue, seems to be the biggest it’s ever been on the XM. The somewhat sloped roof line adds a more sporty and aggressive look to what is a relatively large SUV. The rear shows off sleek taillights, which in my opinion is the best looking part of the car. Double stacked tailpipes on either side (4 in total), is another unique look that may take some time to get used to.
Longtime BMW fans will appreciate the ode to the first BMW M car, the M1, with two BMW logos placed on the upper rear pillars. Though a cool design queue, they look a bit odd and out place. Same goes with where BMW has placed the XM rear badge. Painted in black, the wild lines of the XM blend together well and make for a decent looking car. However, having seen some in other colors, including BMWs Red Label Edition, the XM is quite awkward looking.

BMW XM Interior:
The red leather seats (optional) bring a burst of color to this particular car. While gimmicky, the light up XM logo on the seat is a neat touch. A mix of carbon fiber, brushed aluminum and alcantara make up for the rest of the typical BMW luxurious cabin. Large screens make up the odometer and infotainment system. A standout feature optioned in this particular XM is the geometric-patterned faux-suede headliner which gives the headliner a really cool mountain-like look. To help the already eye-catching headliner standout, colored fiber optic lights illuminate the unique geometric design.

BMW XM Price & Performance:
By no means is the BMW XM an ordinary family hauler. Under the hood you get a 4 liter twin-turbo V8 that’s paired with a 25.7-kWh battery pack. That’s good for 644 horsepower and a 0 to 60 miles-per-hour time of 3.8 seconds. With a bold look, luxurious interior, and supercar-like power, the BMW XM does not come cheap with a starting price $159,999.
